Research: Acidic drinks lead to dental erosion

Dentists from the University of Iowa found that acids in fruit juices, teas and energy drinks can result in tooth erosion. The said acids coat the teeth, which can remove its hard and protective layer, the enamel.

Dairy intake during childhood prolongs life: study

A tracer study conducted to some 4,374 children in the U.K. from the 1930s found that high dairy and calcium consumption, predominantly from milk, during childhood, can cut the risk of dying from stroke by as much as 60% without increasing the chances of having heart disease.

Unilever soft-spreads: Goodbye trans fats

Starting next month, Unilever will reformulate its soft-spread brands, removing all partially hydrogenated oils or artificial trans fats, which has been known to clog the arteries. The move is the company's answer to consumers' increasing demand for more nutritious food and the growing popularity of the war against trans fats.

Gatorade Sports a New Name



Despite posting weak sales, PepsiCo Inc. plans a makeover for its Gatorade brand, renaming the famous sports drink brand "G" and shrinking its lightning bolt logo. According to PepsiCo's Americas Beverage chief Massimo d'Amore, the makeover is a follow up of the company's recent campaign for Gatorade dubbed as "G," which ranked high "on the coolness factor" in an internal research done by the company. The campaign already started in the U.S. by running a TV teaser during the SuperBowl partnered with various online and print ads.

Cadbury's U.K. brand goes Fair Trade

Cadbury has recently announced that its Dairy Milk brand in the U.K. and Ireland will carry the Fair Trade logo, emphasizing that farmers who made the ingredients were paid fairly by the chocolate company. Cadbury hopes that its other brands both in the U.K. and elsewhere be certified Fairtrade.
